Experts indicate that several sectors such as energy, health, and education need to protect their IT infrastructure from Ransomware. Cyberattacks and Ransomware incidents are increasing, as are the variety of their methods and the damage they can inflict. A cyberattack can result in the theft of data, information, or money and can even lead to a company facing extortion. The increased vulnerability of firms comes as many businesses and organizations have migrated their systems digitally but have failed to invest in adequate cybersecurity.
The experts explained how “Ransomware” attacks follow a similar pattern; Cybercriminals first break into the target organization’s network and then look to disrupt sensitive and critical data to coerce the victims into paying a ransom. Victims of these attacks typically have two choices. The first is to pay the ransom and hope that the cybercriminals will maintain the data’s integrity; The second is to refuse to pay the ransom and attempt to restore the compromised systems using backup copies (though the results may be unreliable).
