Learn how to draw raptors from the award-winning artist and author who literally wrote the book on the subject! Join award-winning artist, author, educator, and scientist John Muir Laws for this 2-hour class where he shares his best tips and tricks for drawing raptors learned through his 40 years of teaching and illustrating. A widely respected avian artist, John Muir Laws (aka Jack) is continually refining his bird drawing techniques, and this class will include his latest ideas and tips to help you capture raptors on paper. Jack is the author of the Laws Guide to Drawing Birds (more than 70,000 copies sold), which includes an introduction by respected author and bird artist David Allen Sibley. In that intro, Sibley wrote: “I wish this book had been available to me when I was starting out, because it is filled with tips and tricks that took me decades to learn.”

This class was hosted by the Wild Wonder Foundation and recorded live on 10/26/24.

This class is appropriate for all ages and all levels.

This class is a fundraiser :) Please make a tax-deductible donation of $25 or more if you are able, at https://www.wildwonder.org/donate

This is a fundraiser for a new Wild Wonder Foundation short documentary film that tells the story of Outdoor Core/Mountain Kid, an inspiring outdoor education program in Plumas County, California, in which weekly, direct nature experience, nature connection, and nature journaling are an integral part of school for every child in every grade in every school in the district. The film, currently in production and due out in late 2025, includes interviews with John Muir Laws. Thank you for your support and for helping share the joy of nature journaling with others through your generosity.
