In some circumstances, Database administrators may want to add more nodes to a replica set, but cost constraints prohibit them from doing that. MongoDB supports Arbiter to be added to overcome those situations. MongoDB Arbiter is a replica-set member which participates in elections for primary but it does not have a copy of the data set and thus minimizes the cost.
The upcoming release of KubeDB will introduce Arbiter support for MongoDB. We will be happy to share the progress we have accomplished so far and get feedback from you.
