#shorts Ribosomes are structures primarily responsible for synthesizing proteins in the cell. We can compare ribosomes to factories that produce different products. In this sense, ribosomes are the machines responsible for assembling the different components of a protein. Ribosomes are responsible for joining the necessary amino acids in the correct order to form a polypeptide chain. This chain, once formed, folds to acquire its three-dimensional structure and become a functional protein. As an example, we could think of a cooking recipe where ribosomes would be responsible for joining the different ingredients in the correct order to form a delicious and nutritious dish.
