Each unit has their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Harpooners have the advantage of range and can attack safely from a distance, but they are also fragile and can be taken out easily by powerful melee units like the Ice Giant and Super Boxer. The Saitama and Dark Peasant also have powerful abilities that can turn the tide of the battle.
