ABOUT KASHI VISHWANATH TEMPLE
Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh is home to the Vishwanath Jyotirlinga shrine, which is the most sacred of Hindu shrines.
Kashi Vishwanath Mandir is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.
The temple stands on the western bank of the holy river Ganges, and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. In fact, it is a place where Shakti peeth and Jyotirlingam are together.
Kashi Vishwanath Temple is adorned with Golden Roof which adds to its beauty. Here you will see the Swayambhu Shivling of Lord Shiva. Banaras is considered to be one of the oldest city and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Kashi is the Nagri of Lord Shiva.
Kashi Vishwanath Temple has been visited by religious gurus like Aadi Shankracharya Ji. The temple that we see today has been built by Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar.
The shrine has now been restored and beautified with the Kashi Vishwanath Dham project by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi.
Earlier the temple area was only 3000 square feet which has now enlarged to about 5 lakh square feet. Now 50000-75000 devotees can visit the temple and temple premises.
