Bitwig 09 - A closer look at automation and sidechaining
In this video I take a closer look at automation and sidechaining in Bitwig versus Ableton. I made this video primarily to address some criticism offered about things I've said about these two features in previous videos. The criticism essentially asserts that "these things work nearly the same or are just as easy in Ableton". However, I disagree with that assertion, and demonstrate in this video exactly why I feel that both automation and sidechaining is faster, simpler, easier, and more powerful in Bitwig.
CORRECTION: I derped and made one mistake in the video when I tried to show that Ableton's "Envelope Follower" M4L device couldn't be mapped to controls on a 3rd party VST. You can in fact do that, and I literally forgot how in that moment, lol. (I migrated full time to Bitwig about 4 months ago so my 'muscle memory' for Ableton is starting to slip.) Still, that mistake doesn't take away from the larger point about "Envelope Follower" not being the best sidechaining solution to match Bitwig's "Audio Sidechain" modulator, but there it is. :)
