Thanks to Mitenolet, I got some shrink tubing to give the stabiliser mod a go.

Its a bit of a pain, but as I discovered eventually, the reason why its recommended to be trimmed to 6mm or so, is because if it is longer, on some stabilisers, it actually is too thick inside the stem and jams the stabiliser. So, you probably should cut them to that length unlike my lazy first attempt.

Still, its effects are noticeable, but not as dramatic I guess as they could have been perhaps? If you have the time and the inclination, it doesn't hurt to do it.
