This is a quick video demonstrating how to remove the radio from your Ford S-Max / Ford Galaxy. This is for the “OVAL” radio ONLY.
Tools required: 1x T15 Torx screwdriver. 1x trim pry tool (or flat blade screwdriver, blunt knife etc.)
*Note: In 2008 Ford changed from a square radio, to a more rounded and built-into-the-dash shape. This design is not only more visually pleasing as there is no sharp edge, but it’s added an extra safety measure to protect against theft by designing the removal requiring some of the dash fascia’s to be stripped and using less-common torx screws (previously known as security screws before they came a more common standard screw.) This shape radio is unofficially known as the “oval” radio despite lacking a true oval shape, moreso still a square with rounded corners, though for ease and better understanding, search criteria’s etc i’ll refer to it as the oval radio throughout this video as that’s what it is well known as. Pre 2008 Fords use a true square radio that is simply pulled out using four removal keys. Post 2008 Fords using this shape radio (both in the uprated Sony system, and the basic Ford branded 6000CD) requires some dash trim to be removed. This video focuses specially for S-Max Mk1 and Galaxy Mk3 owners, though the basic principle is the same across all models.
