Drums too loud? I Have Your Cheap DIY Solution.
I use Evans Soundoff drum mutes and they work great. But almost too great. They work perfectly on my snare but my toms have virtually no tone using them, and too much dampening for my taste. In this video I experiment with an alternative that I believe will provide the mid-range volume level I'm looking for without robbing me of the tone I need, while providing a slightly improved rebound.
