Testimonial about Week 1 doing the PURE FOCUS Sessions
“I came to West Meadow Farm to work with Sandy to regain my confidence under saddle with my horse Tayo after two serious come offs. I knew I needed to improve my leadership both from the ground and the saddle and find trust in my horse again. Even though I am a lifelong horsewoman with a strong grounding in Natural Horsemanship, I was at a loss. I spent three days working on the ground and under saddle learning to NOT micromanage Tayo, trust my own skills and the connection we were building. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done and one of the most life changing.
With Sandy’s guidance and support I was able to ride Tayo through several scary situations successfully and learn HOW to manage him when we lost connection. This work is NOT for the faint of heart. Horses don’t lie and the truths Tayo was showing me were difficult to accept/face. Sandy hung in with me the whole time and her compassion and support never wavered. After three days, my confidence under saddle greatly improved, Sandy reminded me of skills I already had to manage disconnection and spooks and my ground skills became more nuanced.
For the next 30 days, I am following the plan Sandy and I came up with. I come back at the end of July, and I am excited to see how much progress I make! I strongly recommend taking lessons/clinics with Sandy whenever you can. Your horsemanship and relationship with your horse will change for the better in ways that I can’t quantify. Sandy is amazing and I could write pages about all I learned, let go of, received, and realized in only three days. This is one of the best things I have ever done for myself and my horses.“ -Cynthia Sprague
