Startup Talks in the Park l Barb Fiorina of Meals on Wheels
Barb Fiorina, Director of Development of Meals on Wheels San Diego County, is the latest speaker in the Startup Talks in the Park series. Barb shared with Underground Elephant employees how Meals on Wheels uses collaboration with local businesses and volunteers to deliver meals to 3,200 San Diego County senior residents. UE employees learned they can volunteer their time by becoming apart of the meal delivery schedule. Barb and her team provide not only meals to seniors, but additionally a consistent physical presence that brings safety and joy.

From humble beginnings in 1960 with a few women deciding to deliver meals to their elderly neighbors, to serving nearly a half a million meals throughout the entire county today, Meals on Wheels is devoted to the health, safety and well-being of San Diego seniors.
Meals on Wheels is the only agency providing meals for 7 days a week, including holidays. Additionally, they cover the entire county, including delivery into the over 3,049 square miles of rural and unincorporated areas.
