Violent Supercell Thunderstorm- Silverton, TX June 13th, 2009
This chase was NOT an easy one for Dave and I. We had stayed the night before in Colorado Springs thinking that our target area for the following day was a short drive away. Well, it didn't quite end up that way. The target shifted over night and we ended up with a long haul all the way to the Texas Panhandle! Several hundred more miles than we originally thought!
Somehow, we made it in time for the show and ended up intercepting this amazing supercell southeast of the Amarillo area near the town of Silverton. Unfortunately however, we had to thread the needle to get on the business end of this storm. Needless to say there were a few hairy moments as we navigated the "bear's cage". In the end though we were treated to one of the most amazing displays of mother nature. I hope you enjoy the video!
