NEW ORLEANS, La. (NOLA NOW) - Primary Care Plus has a team of experts on health, medicine, and daily care in every one of their various locations from Lafayette to Algiers.

When new patients enter Primary Care Plus with their concerns and ailments, they receive a full one-hour session with the doctor. This allows the patient to feel comfortable describing their concerns before the doctor recommends anything.

Extending far beyond the doctor’s office, Primary Care Plus enjoys sharing their medical expertise on various health topics, and today we were joined by Dr. Stephanie Sarrat, who shared an easy memory tool to help quickly spot when someone is having a stroke.

Every 40 seconds, someone in the United States has a stroke, which is a brain injury that happens when blood flow to the brain is interrupted. This could be caused by a blocked artery or the leaking or bursting of a blood vessel.

Without a steady supply of blood, brain cells become oxygen starved and stop working properly. If treatment doesn’t begin quickly, a stroke may cause permanent brain damage or death. That’s why it’s so important to know the warning signs.
