Short Star Wars inspired animation made as my final year project in Uni. The main difficulty was combining all the complex elements of creating an environment with simulations that interact with it and with each other. The main focus was on the final scene of the explosion and tower collapsing. Environment was fully created in Blender with most of the scattering done with the Scatter addon. I made trees in SpeedTree cause I wanted to have them animated in the wind. Most shaders were done procedurally. All simulations were done in Houdini and exported to Blender for rendering with Octane. The elements of the collapsing tower had to interact with the surrounding buildings and other effects such us the explosion and smoke which was emited from the collapsing pieces. Compositing was done in After Effects.
Fun fact: Anyone noticed one of the AT-ST's falls over because of the explosion ? Let me know ;)
