In this acoustic guitar lesson, I'm taking a musical vacation to Brazil and the glorious rhythms and harmony of Bossa Nova and the godfather of the style, João Gilberto. This isn't just a great route into Jazz tunes that require a 'Latin Feel', but can give you the tools for improving hand/finger and limb independence and improve your overall rhythmic security. It's also a great opportunity to level up your knowledge of chords/extensions! Although this is played on the traditional classical guitar, these ideas can easily be transferred to the electric.
(It's also worth noting that all my examples use 2/4 bars which is the traditional Brazilian way of feeling/counting Bossa).
