This was my attempt at Haystacks on a wet and windy day on the 30th December 2021.
A few weeks previous we caught the weather perfect in Buttermere, no rain, it was warm with clear views all round, no wind and cloud inversions, basically like I said it was perfect. We walked from the Buttermere Court Hotel up to scale force and up across Red Pike and High Stile but we started loosing light so Haystacks was incomplete. I returned with the family on the 30th to finish the route but the weather had other plans..The forecast was drizzle, I set off at 8:20am and headed along Buttermere Lake then took the path up to Haystacks. After starting the ascent the weather began to close in with strong gusts and rain. Once I reached the base of Haystacks the visibility was poor and the wind was lifting me off my feet.
Unfortunately I had to head back to Bahrain were I now live and work. I'll be back soon.
