El Centro, Ca. (The Colorado Desert)
El Centro, Ca. is the county seat of the Imperial Valley. As part of the Colorado Desert it is located in the southwest corner of the greater Sonoran Desert.
El Centro (pop. 44,000) is the largest city below sea level in the continental United States. Its primary industry is agriculture; and two-thirds of the winter vegetables consumed in the U.S. are grown on Valley farms.
Because of the clear, sunny climate El Centro is the winter home of the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron Blue Angels.
