Abstract: This talk will explore how R can be used to produce data-driven news stories and graphics. We’ll explore best practices, important questions to ask of data, and how to better communicate complicated topics for a mass audience.

Molly's Bio: Molly is the Team Lead for Data, Legal Analytics, and Business (affectionately known as DataLAB), leading the data team in research design, custom surveys, statistics, and data science as well as the legal markets team in drafting legal operations and legal technology pieces and practical guidance. Previously, she worked for Forrester Research managing global, syndicated surveys, primarily in the financial space. She received her BA from Butler University and her MS from the State University of New York (SUNY).

Andrew's Bio: Andrew Wallender is an investigative data journalist at Bloomberg Industry Group, where he pursues numbers-driven stories with a focus on government accountability and legal trends. He’s uses R daily to clean messy records, scrape documents, and summarize complicated datasets. He’s a graduate of Georgetown University and lives in Washington, DC. He’ll begin work on a master’s in data analytics from Georgia Tech in the fall.
