I dug through a lot of information on this topic. I finally came to the following conclusion:
SNES PAL - resistors should be used instead of capacitors, or nothing at all.
SNES NTSC - capacitors (without them, the image is slightly dimmer).
After manipulating the cable, the colors became more saturated. The "grid" is slightly less visible.
