If you or someone you know has been affected by the severe weather and flooding that occurred in September in Cook County, you have a deadline coming up! It’s important to register for federal disaster assistance before the February 9th deadline. That assistance comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, otherwise known as FEMA.
More than $39 million dollars in financial assistance has already been awarded to eligible individuals and households. If you want to register, or have already registered for disaster assistance and would like an update on your application, go to DisasterAssistance.gov or call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362 or TTY at 1-800-462-7585. Language translators are available on the phone and in-person at the disaster recovery centers in Calumet City, Dolton, Burnham, Phoenix, or Chicago’s Hegewisch neighborhood.
