⚠ WHY THIS MATTERS
Microsoft has been phasing out Basic Authentication for years. The final
deadline for SMTP AUTH was originally September 2025, then April 2026, and now extends through December 2026 — but the direction is permanent. OAuth is the only authentication method that will work long-term for sending emails through Microsoft 365.
