The weird choice that made Madrid the capital of Spain
Why is Madrid the capital of Spain when it was basically unknown at the time? In this video, I attempt to solve this mystery by comparing Madrid to Toledo, the old capital of Spain. Along the way, I explain interesting facts about King Felipe II of Spain and Golden Age Spain in general.
CORRECTION: I say that Madrid has been the capital ever since 1561, but there was a 5 year period where it was moved to Valladolid.
