So much information?
Hello! Michelle Thayer from JD & Associates, you local hometown VA realtor. Today, I want to talk to you about information.
There is so much of it out there! How do we sort through it all? There is an app for everything, for every one peice of information you find, there is a new website saying why it is wrong!
We as people will naturally take the path of least resistance. This holds true for most things in our daily lives. Realestate is no different. So if a platform, such as Zillow or the like puts a bunch of information EASILY in front of us, makes it "appear" to be tailored to us, we are going to click on it! The same holds true for loans and realtors, if it is easy, we will click on it. But what seems easy on the front end can cost you more than you know later.
That great house you found, does Zillow know about the leaky basement or the or the fire in the garage? That quick preapproval that has you searching for your dream home, did it look at your real Debt to Income Ratio?...What's that you say??? Or that easy Realtor site, do they know you have a dog? Or that you want Chickens? Do they know you have a family member that comes to visit that can't do stairs? Did they even ask about your family? Believe it or not, you can get pretty deep into a realestate transaction before it starts to fall apart because of "easy". Did that "quick to find Realtor" help you find a reputable Home Inspector? Remember that Debt To Income Ratio, yeah, the lender just did a REAL check and you don't actually qualify for what they said originally, sorry.
So, instead of clicking that easy button, and we all love the easy button. Actually talk to someone, I would love for that to be me and be able to share a variety of resources with you as needed. But even if it is not me, TALK TO SOMEONE, a real person, with a soul. Ask questions? Don't get pushed through or brushed off. Who you work with really does matter. Buying or selling a home is a huge deal! Work with someone who is as excited about it as you are!
