A few weeks ago I put out a request to viewers asking if there was anything they'd like me to look at in more detail. One of the responses came from Ollie asking for more information on mixing and mixing toms in general. To make the most of the session, I asked Ollie to send over a session I could look at and make a video going into some of the details using a session that would be familiar to them.
As we were using Logic, I decided to stick what that and look at what I could do using only the stock plugins to generate the drum mix. In this video I touch on the vintage EQs logic recently introduced, strip silence, processing for toms, driving the EQ and the importance of phase relationship for drums.
The whole process took a few hours, as a result I decided to break the videos down into sections and upload them over the course of the next week or so. Let me know what you think, any questions? Fire away,
