Prelude to "Space Oddity"
About two weeks into the Covid-19 lockdown, I woke up thinking of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity”. Being that the song was so apropos of this moment in time, I decided to do one of those “quarantine remote music” videos. I enlisted the help of a bunch of very talented friends, and one of the newer friends I made was the Mana Music String Quartet, led by Josh Nakazawa. When I heard the high level that this ensemble played at, the composer in me was thrilled, so I just had to write something for them!
This is the result. They recorded, filmed, and edited this piece themselves, all while being stuck in an apartment in Honolulu, HI.
