Ryan, Jesse and Nick headed up the trail, with Nick still totally unaware as to what was happening. If anything, in his drunken 15 year old mind, they were going on to do some more partying.
However, once they reached the hole up ahead, Jesse pulled out the duct tape and told Nick he needed to tie his hands together. He added that he wasn't going to hurt him, and Nick nodded. But then Jesse pulled off more duct tape and wrapped it around his head- to the point where Nick was struggling to breathe.
Ryan then dragged Nick over to the hole and pushed him in.
