Kevin Kennedy III - LOST (OFFICIAL AUDIO)
Nebraskan-based singer-songwriter Kevin Kennedy III presents his new single ‘Lost.’ The song blends different elements of folk, rock, and country leading audiences into a world of passion and pain that could be felt for fans of the likes of Morgan Wallen, Mumford and Sons, Kings of Leon, and Hardy.
“‘Lost’ is a song that I have been holding onto for years. I just wasn’t sure the right time to release it, because it is so heavy and real. Most of my songs dive into traveling, love, and having fun, but this song just hits different. It goes to the places that people keep secret in their lives. We all face internal and external struggles, the question is where do those trials lead us? I believe it causes us to confront our choices and look for a way out. Personally, I believe that way out is through Jesus Christ.” - Kevin Kennedy III
“When it came to the lyrics, I wanted the verses to shed light on to the darkness. It is the confessional elements of the verses that lead to a realization that sometimes the answers to life problems can be found in the past and therefore brought to the future. This rings true when recounting the songs sung by my grandmother and mother. Those seeds had been planted years ago and finally you see the fruits. Finally, as you look to the third chorus you see there is light in the hope and mystery surrounding death and what the future may hold.” - Kevin Kennedy III
Originally, the song was recorded in Nashville with a group of talented musicians, but something was missing. “I just felt like the original recording was outdated,” Kennedy pointed out. So when I was in Serbia recording music I showed a friend of mine, Sebastijan Kerekes, the song and we decided to redo the bass and drums. I believe it brought the overall track to the next level. We also added a little synth on the choruses which really gave a cool pick-me-up feel. Then when I was home in Nebraska, I asked Baylee Steele to sing harmonies which really enhanced the vocals.
Having already teased us with previous singles - ‘Call Me When You’re Done,’ ‘Good Mood,’ and ‘Keepin’ Me Up’, Kevin Kennedy III looks forward to releasing his full length album in the New Year. For now the current tracks from his collection have given clear insight into his expertise as a songwriter and composer. Although, ’Lost’ just dives into one more side that we have yet to see from Kevin.
