I’ve been exploring how to combine state-of-the-art object detection with robust multi-object tracking, and I’m excited to share my latest project!
Using YOLOv8 for ultra-fast, real-time person detection and ByteTrack for consistent identity tracking, I built a system that can:
✅ Detect every person in a video stream
✅ Assign unique IDs and follow them across frames
✅ Count both live occupancy and total unique visitors
✅ Display real-time analytics with an elegant overlay
⚙️ Stack used
🔹 YOLOv8 (Pytorch) for detection
🔹 ByteTrack for tracking
🔹 Python & OpenCV for video processing and visualization
🔹 PyTorch for inference
