Construction: Brotherhood, Sleeping, In the mood for Love.
Construction is an ongoing series, where I explore the tight-knitted relationships of men working at a construction site. There are straight men, gay men, and something in between. Sleeping is a sub-series within the series, which shows men taking a nap in the afternoon after a long day of work. Some of them fell asleep on the shoulders of each other. The men are virile and masculine, but the mood is soft and romantic. This in-between state of closeness, masculinity, and general care for each other as brothers, and some as lovers, is the mood that I try to recreate with this series of paintings.
