This short video shows how you can use the Train-Tech RL1 Relay Controller to control a Dapol Motorised Water tower automatically using a Track Sensor to trigger the motion when a train comes past or using DCC accessory commands. The RL1 incorporates 2 relays, so you can use the other relay to control something else. See the main RL1 Relay Controller Video for details of wiring and other applications. Please note that this video was shot on a table to show the simplicity of wiring, but nothing is fixed down onto the tabletop and so positioning of the track, platform, water tower, track sensor and locomotive are all arbitrary and on a model railway layout we suggest that all of these items are carefully located and fixed in appropriate places.
NB: You can also use the Train-Tech Dapol Semaphore controllers SC300 or SC400 to power and control the water tower in a similar way by DCC or by triggering from a Track Sensor or Sensor Signal. Each of these controllers has 2 outputs so that you can control a Dapol Semaphore Signal as well as the Water Tower.
