Soil Amendment with the Best Compactor in the Industry
Our next step in creating an urban backyard is compaction! After classifying the soil, we knew we were now working with clay. To amend that clay, we used lime and clean stone to increase the bearing ability of that clay soil. To compact that soil and achieve 98% Standard Proctor Density, we had our friends from @MyWeberMT best known for their compactors, show us how it's done! We had the WeberMT CR6 with the integrated CCD Compatrol unit which took the guess work out of knowing when we had achieved 98% SPD. The compatrol unit has 7 indicator lights telling us how much more the soil needs compaction. When all 7 indicator lights turn on, you know you can move on to the next step of the build. This tool allowed us to save time and guess work AND know that you have successfully achieved 98% SPD.
Our next step is setting the Geotextile. There are 2 kinds of geotextiles: woven & non-woven.

Woven Geotextile: Strength allowing for stabilizing the soil and help distribute loads evenly. Allows water to flow through without the migration of small particles. Can be used in permeable pavement applications.
Non-Woven Geotextile: Soil separator
We had the woven GF5 from our friends @TheAllianceGator and allowed us to easily roll it out from our pool deck, making sure to overlap them with the flow of water!
