Clausing 13” x 36” Lathe Leaking Front Cover - Sealing the front cover with RTV
This video covers a common problem with the Clausing lathes where the front cover leaks the gear oil out the bottom. In this video, I take the front cover off, make gaskets, and seal the front cover with RTV. The gasket is cork which I thought would provide a softer, thicker, more compressible seal for the front cover. I know many of you machinists aren’t fans of RTV due to the permanent nature of it and I understand. Enjoy, Skud.
