This race was all of my hard work finally paying off. At the beginning of the season I set the wild goal to get invited to Brooks PR. I figured that in order to do this, I would have to run 4:08 for 1600m and be top 12 in the nation for the mile or 2 mile. At the Festival of Miles, about a week and a half before Brooks, I ran a US #11 4:08 1600m and 4:09 full mile. Unfortunately, I had run it just a day late. Brooks PR had already sent out invites. I was definitely a little bummed, but super excited that I was able to run top 12 in US. This time was also the number one sophomore mile in the nation and second sub 4:10 ever run by a Colorado high schooler.
Big thanks to Otis Manson for writing my workouts and for Carter Dillon and Caden Foster for making this trip a blast + making me drink a ton of water. For anybody looking to run a fast mile next year, I highly recommend The Festival of Miles!! Now its time to take 3 weeks and eat some ice cream!!
