MM | CÍRCULO AZUL by Diogo Aguiar Studio (PT)
O Círculo Azul nasce da continuidade de um trabalho que se vem fazendo desde 2015/2016 no Município de Estarreja. Um trabalho de observação, escuta e análise, que convoca artistas das mais diversas disciplinas, a olharem e trabalharem sobre o que é único e identitário deste território, corporizando esses ‘bens’ em novos valores de memória e de exemplaridade, através de distintas reflexões conceptuais, estéticas, plásticas e visuais.
À luz desta orientação curatorial desenhada pela Mistaker Maker, e no ano em que se celebram os 100 anos da ADICO, pensámos em criar uma obra de arte pública em homenagem à “cadeira portuguesa”, nascida na década de 30 em Avanca, Estarreja. Nas palavras da curadora Lara Seixo Rodrigues, este é o “que nos pareceu ser o momento preciso para a Arte nos auxiliar a contar a história por detrás desta reconhecida peça de design e a (re)definir geograficamente e para todo o sempre a sua génese”.
Segundo o autor Diogo Aguiar Studio, “Círculo Azul” “constitui-se como um novo espaço público no verdejante Parque Municipal de Antuã. Constrói-se como um pavilhão rendilhado na paisagem, a partir da re-interpretação da tradicional cadeira portuguesa 5008. Atribuindo-lhe um lugar de destaque, pela sua elevação no território, a intervenção artística trabalha a desmaterialização da cadeira pela sua repetição a partir de 40 unidades geometricamente posicionadas e manipuladas para permitirem um vista privilegiada sobre a envolvente.”
“Círculo Azul” excede o objectivo inicial de um tributo artístico à cadeira portuguesa. Constitui-se como um novo equipamento para usufruto da comunidade, um novo lugar de partilha e de convívio, de intimidade e proximidade para novos diálogos, exultando desta forma singular, a função e razão de existência da peça homenageada.
Neste processo, a centenária ADICO assumiu-se desde o primeiro momento como parceira e responsável na construção da obra criada e assinada pelo Diogo Aguiar Studio, comprovando o percurso pautado pelo arrojo, pela inovação e pelo sucesso”. O mesmo percurso “do qual resultou um dos principais ícones da portugalidade – a Cadeira Portuguesa -. Um objecto que é hoje uma referência incontornável no design português, mas que é cada vez mais uma referência no mundo”.
(EN) Círculo Azul is born from the continuity of a work that has been done since 2015/2016 in the Municipality of Estarreja. A work of observation and analysis, which invites artists from the most diverse disciplines to look and work on what is unique and identifying in this territory, embodying these 'goods' in new values of memory and exemplarity, through different conceptual, aesthetic, plastic and visual reflections.
In the light of this curatorial orientation designed by Mistaker Maker, and in the year that ADICO celebrates 100 years, we thought of creating a public work of art in honor of the “Portuguese chair”, born in the 1930s in Avanca, Estarreja. In the words of curator Lara Seixo Rodrigues, this is “what seemed to us to be the right moment for Art to help us tell the story behind this renowned piece of design and (re)define geographically and forever its genesis”.
According to the author Diogo Aguiar Studio, “Círculo Azul” “constitutes itself as a new public space in the verdant Municipal Park of Antuã. It is built as a pavilion laced in the landscape, based on the re-interpretation of the traditional Portuguese chair 5008. Giving it a prominent place, due to its elevation in the territory, the artistic intervention works on the dematerialization of the chair by its repetition from 40 units geometrically positioned and manipulated to allow a privileged view of the surroundings.”
“Círculo Azul” exceeds the initial objective of an artistic tribute to the Portuguese chair. It is constituted as a new facility for the community to enjoy, a new place of sharing and conviviality, of intimacy and proximity for new dialogues, exulting in this unique way, the function and reason for the existence of the honored piece.
In this process, the century-old ADICO assumed itself from the very beginning as a partner and responsible for the construction of the work created and signed by Diogo Aguiar Studio, proving the path guided by boldness, innovation and success”. The same path “which resulted in one of the main icons of Portugal – the Portuguese Chair -. An object that is today an unavoidable reference in Portuguese design, but which is increasingly a reference in the world”.
