[NEW HARDEST] "Sinister Silence" by Wahffle & more 100% | 9 MINUTE EXTREME DEMON!
For my previous two hardest I had big intro segments, but this experience was honestly just too quick for that to be interesting. I think the level itself is long enough though lol
This is absolutely crazy. I started learning this pretty much as soon as I beat Zodiac back in October of 2025, as I really thought the idea of having my hardest extreme also be the longest I've completed really cool. Fast forward a little less than a year and I beat Oblivion as my hardest, still planning on doing this afterwards. I've always wanted to do this as a hardest, but I found it really hard to just sit down and play it because it takes so long to warm up and I couldn't build any consistency from zero, so for a very long time my best on this remained at only 27%. Eventually I actually gave up on the idea of doing this as a hardest, with me starting to learn other levels like Edge of Destiny, LIMBO and Spectre. It was simply too scary and not hard enough to justify the time I'd spend beating it.
Monday this week I was playing Minecraft when this level's song came on my playlist. Randomly I felt the urge to go back to this, exited Minecraft, and just played a session. Somehow I managed to come out of the session with a new best of 48%, and from then on I played the level every other day this week. On Wednesday I jokingly told fellow extreme grinder Arouvis we'd both beat our levels we were working on on Sunday, which is actually beyond funny. I somehow predicted my unbelievably unlucky experience with beating my new hardest lol.
Anyway, during the week I got a lot of good runs to 100, but couldn't do much from zero. I ended up getting to the middle once, and fluked all the way to 68%, but besides that I really couldn't pass the 30s and 40s from zero. Today I randomly got another attempt to the second half and somehow just... beat the level? I'm honestly beyond proud of how well I controlled my nerves because I've been so much more nervous on so many occasions.
The level is amazing! It can be a little rough around the edges but most parts can be figured out eventually. There's definitely a good chunk of choke points but none feel like a wall impossible to pass. Of course my experience could've been worse if I didn't get extremely lucky, but I'd still like to imagine I'd love this level anyway. Even if I didn't expect to beat it TODAY, I wasn't actually expecting too many more sessions either. I knew that once I broke the 30s & 40s mind block it'd be smooth sailing.
I honestly can't recommend this level enough if it feels interesting to you. Of course it's important to know what you're getting yourself into, but if you feel fine playing a eight minute and 45 second long top 80 I encourage you to do it.
I want to do more hardests soon. I'm capable of so much more in this game than what I've done, but we'll see what I actually end up doing. All I know is this will not be the hardest level I beat this year and you will one day see me beating Anathema. My extreme grinding will always take priority though, so if my list grinding gets slow at times that's why.
