Simran Sharma, a visually impaired para-athlete from Burari, Delhi, overcame financial and personal challenges to become the 200m Para World Champion. Born prematurely, she faced bullying but found support in her mother and later her coach, Gajendra Singh, who became her husband. Gajendra sold his land to fund her training. Simran’s breakthrough came at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championship. Despite losing her father, she pushed through and qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. In 2024, she won a bronze medal in the Women’s 200m T12 final at the Paris Paralympics, inspiring many.
