Slurpees Walk-Off in Nail-Biter Against Aviators
It came down to the wire on Thursday at Indian Valley Elementary School, as Slurpees grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 7-6, over Aviators. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the fifth when Nolan S singled, scoring one run.
Despite falling down by four runs in the third inning, Aviators tried to fight back. Aviators closed the gap by scoring on a ground out, a double, a single, a triple, a walk, and a steal of home.
Slurpees got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Logan S tripled, Dominic T walked, and Dominic stole home, each scoring one run.
A steal of home by Louis H extended the Slurpees lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
Aviators tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a ground out by Brayden B, a double by Noah L, a single by Keaton G, and a triple by William P.
In the bottom of the fourth, Slurpees broke up the tie when Dominic singled, scoring one run. Then a steal of home by Dominic followed to extend the lead to 6-4.
Aviators tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a walk by Brayden, and a steal of home by Isaac S.
Ryan S earned the win for Slurpees. They surrendered six hits and six runs over four and one-third innings, striking out 11 and walking two.
Brayden led things off on the hill for Aviators. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and five runs over three and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking four. Jackson P appeared in relief for Slurpees.
Leadoff hitter Louis led Slurpees with two hits in three at bats. Logan and Nolan each drove in one run for Slurpees. River 0, Nolan, Louis, Jackson, and Dominic each stole multiple bases for Slurpees.
Slurpees stole 17 bases in the game. Slurpees were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.
Roland L made the most plays with six.
Brayden provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Aviators with two runs batted in. SlurpeesNoah, William, Isaac, August S, and Henry W each collected one hit for Aviators. Noah and Isaac each stole multiple bases for Aviators. Aviators stole eight bases in the game. Aviators were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Noah had the most chances in the field with one.
Slurpees will travel to The Bashers for their next game on Saturday.
