Four bar linkage animation of Polar Vortex's lifting arms
Polar Vortex is a heavyweight (220 pound) combat robot we're building for the STEM-2014 Tech Olympiad in Miami Beach, Florida.
Polar Vortex using a pair of lifting arms to raise the entire front of the robot, attempting to pick up or flip the opponent.
The lifter arms use planetary gears and chain reduction to reduce the speed and increase the torque from the weapon motor.
The final stage of reduction is provided by a four-bar linkage, which is animated in this video.
