The little word сам is handy for when you'd like to add emphasis, or say that someone did something on their own, without help. In this video we'll cover how to say things like "the president himself," and "I did it myself."
We do need to change the endings of сам – this is Russian, after all – but the good news is that if you can say things like "this city" or "these books," then you probably know most of the endings for сам, too!
A cautionary note for English speakers: in phrases like "I did it myself" and "I saw myself," the word "myself" is used in two very different ways. We'll finish with how to distinguish these two ideas in Russian.
