In this math video we will be discussing transformation and congruent or not congruent. We will identify the four types of transformations to be translation, reflection, rotation, and dilation. We will understand a translation to result a congruent image that represents a "slide" left, right, up, down, or a combination of directions. A reflection will result a congruent image that represents a mirrored "flip" across the x-axis, y-axis, or a given line. A rotation will result a congruent image that is a "turn" about the origin, a vertex, or a given point. A dilation is the only transformation that results an image that is not congruent as it is a change is size by a scale factor resulting in an enlargement or a reduction. All transformations result images that are the same shape. We will use these ideas to determine each of three given sequences result a congruent or not congruent image. An exemplar solution is modeled and explained.

Geometry
8.G.A.2 Determine which transformation on a triangle will result in an image that is not congruent to the original figure.

8.G.A.2 Understand that a two-dimensional figure is congruent to another if the second can be obtained from the first by a sequence of rotations, reflections, and translations; given two congruent figures, describe a sequence that exhibits the congruence between them.
