As we enter the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is increasing pressure to re-open schools safely amid concerns over learning loss and student mental health.
But while daily life seems to be showing signs of improvement with widespread vaccination programs ongoing across the country, it is clear that preparedness over eventualities such as the coronavirus pandemic is not likely to end soon.
Many in the medical communities have even stated that, going forward, it’s just realistic to anticipate possible smaller outbreaks of coronavirus variants still to come, and remaining hyper-focused on schools being prepared to reconfigure their environments will still be essential well into the immediate future.
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act for K12 has come at just the right time to help schools and administrators prepare for safe re-openings by making long-lasting improvements to school facilities using COVID relief funds.
