Will wax potting pickups stop my guitar from squealing?
This guitar was bought in 1998 or so. It has always squealed, and I hated it, because I never knew it could be fixed without replacing the pickups.
To try this, just remove the pickups from your guitar, melt some kind of wax in some kind of pot, then submerge the pickups in the wax for 10-15 minutes. You can jostle them a bit to make sure any air bubbles can escape. When the time is up, remove the pickups and wipe the outsides as best you can. Wait for them to cool, then reinstall in the guitar.
