Zirconia is considered one of the strongest ceramics available. Their bonding however presents many challenges especially in the case of veneers.
With specific surface treatments, zirconia could be bonded to tooth structure and provide a bond strength which is superior to other ceramics.
The bonding protocol should include:
Sand blasting with 50 micron aluminum oxide and preconditioning with an MDP containing primer.
Cementation is performed with rubber dam.
