FAREWELL
Lyrics:
I don't remember if it was Kabul—
or maybe in Kandahar
a wise man spoke to me
and what he said, I'll tell you…
Sometimes it's simply time to go
but when the day comes, no one tells you
I know it's hard for you to accept
and sadly you ask me: is it really already time?
I tell you: we shone brightly
and much of what we did has endured
we will be remembered for a long time to come,
you must be strong now, here – take my hand:
Come on, let's finally die out
because that's better for the world
the last drink is on the house
our hours are numbered
anything is better than another day
ruining the planet
Come on, let's finally die out –
nothing better could happen to the Earth
We asked the computer for the solution
to our ecological problem
AI recommended we decompose as quickly as possible
so that at least the animals survive
the elephants will thank us
and soon grass will grow over our cities
and all that lovely money in all the banks
the rats will gobble it up
Come on, let's finally die out
because that's better for the world
the last pogo has been danced
the last tree will soon be felled
the Anthropocene must come to an end,
I'm sure Darwin would be delighted
come on, let's finally die out –
maybe the dinosaurs will come back then…
