Kensei and I teamed up again and set ourselves a challenge - 20 days ago I pulled out this old song I wrote at uni, decided to record a demo to release before Christmas, and somehow convinced Kensei to draw me another animation. It’s about hoping Christmas will always bring the kind of excitement and magic it did growing up. I chose to leave it as it was when my newbie-songwriter-self wrote it 5 years ago, so some of the lyrics are a bit cringeee but I liked the innocence and rawness of it 🐣
Christmas is not normal this year and sadly many of us can’t be with our loved ones, so we wanted to create something which will hopefully bring comfort and serenity to these crazy times🌛
Lastly, we are both grateful to have a roof over our heads, family, friends, which is why we decided this project would be in support of two charities we thought needed extra support this year:
Mind: a mental health charity. In loving memory of Hannah, a friend Kensei very sadly lost to their battle with mental health during this pandemic, which has been a struggle mentally for so many others too
Save the Children: responding to emergencies (Yemen, Syria, Beirut) and ensuring that children around the world in places of war, natural disasters etc, are safe, healthy and receive food/education/basic needs. This year has been tough for all but on top of the pandemic some are already living in extremely difficult conditions
