Git and Git-annex are mighty software tools for content version control and transport logistics, compatible with small (code) and large (binary) data files. However, both do not excel at workflows involving multiple connected repositories.
This talks demos how DataLad, utilizing these tools, aids workflows involving nested repositories (git submodules), and argues that such workflows are highly suitable for data management needs in science.
