I've got a pretty special video for you guys today. In late March, 2023, I went out in the middle of the night to chase the northern lights. As part of my photography history, I've been an active aurora chaser for about a decade now. I've seen the northern lights probably a hundred times now. All are special events in my life, but I'm not playing this up when I say this was the best display of northern lights I've ever seen in my life. From 9:30pm until my batteries died at 3am, the aurora borealis danced in the sky in nearly 360 views. We had aurora shimmering directly overhead with pillars of light cascading out and down into the rest of the sky pulsing with greens and reds and blues and I just couldn't be more excited to show this to you guys.
With both the a7iv and the a7c cameras, I was able to capture these lights in real time video and show you what I was seeing (with added color that cameras pick up). I could go on, but you should probably just watch and see for yourself.
PS - apologies for the "laggy" video clips. In some scenes I shot with a slower shutter speed to make up for the lack of light as this is shot mostly under the night sky.
