After spending 12 hours trying to learn how to do the boss fight on my Ranger, I spent some time investigating various unique cheese methods.
Only pavise climbing has been patched, the one pavise method still works.

The one pavise method relies on you being a certain distance away and cycling his animations until he roars and infinitely charges.
Its waaaaaay worse than all the patched cheeses.
Stacking the Skeleton Miniboss between the Troll and the pavise can help.
