Got a Tarantula X6 brushed quadcopter (toy grade) and modified it for short distance FPV. Attached a cheap camera and 5.8 gHz 200 mAh transmitter. Then using a DIY base station and AOMWAY Rx with video recording, took my very first FPV flight. For inflight video, I used a modified HK Quanum V2 Goggles. Next flight will probably be using circular antennas all around and a direct patch to the AOM receiver (KISS).

Expecting the worst (based on my previous experience in the outcome of maiden flights) this FPV adventure came out very well. No crashes, no major glitches and the experience was better than expected.

The nice thing about the Tarantula is that it is big enough to carry 5.8 Ghz FPV equipment and the motors are robust (not like the small round coreless motors). So if anything goes wrong like a RTE, it can be repaired easily.
